YMCA 2013 Annual General Meeting & Awards

The YMCA of Regina had the 106th Annual General Meeting today, conducting board and organizational business to ensure the YMCA will continue build healthy communities over the next year. The AGM was held as a business luncheon at the Saskatchewan Hotel, and board members that had terms renewed on the YMCA of Regina Board of Directors include Danny Wilson,  Judi Ash, and Peter Hamill. The YMCA of Regina Board of Directors also reported on the progress towards a new 3 year Strategic Plan.

The AGM also included an awards presentation for the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal Program. This program awarded medals to deserving YMCA members, staff and volunteers across the country, recognizing the tremendous effort of these individuals to help have an impact on their community. GIVE WITH TARGET CAMPAIGN

DID YOU KNOW?

93% of Canadian children and youth are not meeting Canadian Physical Activity guidelines of at least 60 minutes of daily physical activity, it’s more important than ever that active play be encouraged among Canadian kids.

The YMCA provides a positive and safe haven for children, teens and young adults and offers a range of age-appropriate opportunities for active play in a variety of programs for children and teens across Canada.

Target Canada wants to support low income families and help them get active and have partnered with the YMCA to achieve this objective.

For this Campaign there are four causes you can vote for:

ARTS: ArtsSmarts and ArtStarts – Help give Canadian youth more opportunities to engage in the arts

ACTIVE PLAY: YMCA’s in Canada – Help give kids and youth more opportunities to lead active, healthy lives

FOOD: Food Banks Canada – Help give low-income families and kinds in need more access to meals

EDUCATION: First Book Canada and Pathways to Education – Help give youth from low income families a quality education for a brighter future

CAST YOUR VOTE FOR YOUR SELECTED CAUSE.

With every vote for active play, Target will give $100 to the YMCA Strong Kids campaign based on the province selected.

THANK YOU TO DONORS

A big thank you to Ross Keith, the Men's Health Club Renovation Campaign Committee and all those who donated to the renovation of the Men's Health Club. We came close to meeting our financial goal which meant the YMCA did not have to use program finances to cover expenses. Thanks to all of you we have been able to give more children a YMCA experience and continue to build healthy communities.

The attached link is the list of all those who donated.
