The After the Bell Program is a new pilot program developed and facilitated by the YMCA of Regina, in partnership with the City of Regina.   The concept for the After the Bell program is a result of research and stakeholder discussions that have identified there is a growing need for youth programming during the critical after-school hours.  Research shows that participation in quality after-school programs is associated with a more positive attitude towards school, better school attendance and higher aspirations for further study, better interpersonal skills, less time spent in unhealthy behaviours, and reduced drop-out rates.   After the Bell is being piloted to deliver programming that encourages children and youth to engage in activities that foster their personal and social development during these critical after-school hours.

The After the Bell program will run out of three community centres – Argyle Park, Eastview, and the Core Ritchie - and three schools across the city.  We feel that the program is mutually beneficial to the YMCA, the city, the schools and the school boards, but most of all, to the students themselves.
